Take stock of the world we live in: recession; cuts in public service; national, corporate and personal debt; poverty; national and cultural conflict; climate change; tough times for business and families. Whatever your focus, it seems we're ready for a change.
it also seems that change could well be on the horizon
2012 is predicted to be an auspicious year. It has been described as the year for the flowering of human consciousness and the beginning of the age of Aquarius. Some believe it will bring the end of the world and others predict the end of the world as we know it.
a year of transformation
Whatever our view, it does not seem unreasonable to predict that 2012 will indeed be a year of significant transformation. A number of factors seem to be conspiring including, on the darker side, some of the factors mentioned in my opening paragraph. On the positive side our capacity for positive transformation is growing. Technology is moving at the speed of light and our capacity for its exploitation is lagging just a few paces behind.
power to the people
John Lennon would have been proud. The internet is putting the power firmly with ordinary people. Anyone can offer their thoughts to the world and groups of supporters can collaborate rapidly across national and even continental boundaries. We are also learning what makes people and other life forms tick. There is a growing understanding between modern and ancient science and philosophy. People are beginning to make sense of what life is all about.
putting transformation on the agenda
We may perceive this to be a "dark era" but all around us is amazing capacity for transformation. This site and the associated global transformation movement seeks to draw attention to the scope for transformation; an understanding of what it is and how it works; and some amazing stories from those who have succeeded in transformation.
learning from classic stories of transformation
And transformation is not new. We all know the stories of how Nelson Mandela transformed the negativity of apartheid into the positivity of a rainbow nation; how Martin Luther King transformed inequality in America with his dream of a better world; and how Muhatma Gandi helped India to gain independence, and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. These are some of the classic stories of fairly recent times. But what about other stories in different contexts and different scales.
transforming the energy of the Yorkshire Ripper
Richard McCann is a good friend and fellow member of the Professional Speakers Association in the UK. He is one of the best examples of personal transformation I know. His mother was murdered by Peter Sutcliffe (the Yorkshire Ripper). Richard had every reason to be an angry young man and to fight back against Sutcliffe and society at large. Instead he transformed his life and became a source of inspiration to thousands of readers and audiences at his keynote speeches and workshops.
we want to share more stories of transformation
At Primeast we have been in the business of transformation since 1987, so 2012 is our silver jubilee year. We want to mark this special year by sharing many of the stories of transformation we've been part of and we also want to travel the world facilitating the sharing of more stories. In fact we want to be catalysts to the creation of some new stories by helping individuals and groups share their biggest challenges and providing a process whereby this dark energy can be transformed into the bright light of opportunity.
and so the journey begins
